In the realm of cinema, actors hold the power to captivate audiences with their remarkable performances, breathing life in fictional characters and transporting viewers into captivating narratives. Dana Schick gives one such performance as the lead actress in The Death of Us, an indie production which was among the most notable films that was created during the pandemic. Schick was honored with the Best Actress award at the Los Angeles Independent Filmmakers Showcase.

Conceptualized, written and shot during the lockdowns The Death of Us is one of the best films of the pandemic film genre. Despite not having many resources, the actress perceived it as an ideal occasion to partner up and produce a movie. In regards to portraying the character Katie, Dana had this to say, “Yonash, the director, and I share an extremely healthy working relationship; so when he brings something to my table, it is a yes. Playing Katie was something that was extremely relevant and resonating with me at the time.” Dana expressed that living in the moment while filming a dramatized version of our current climate, helped immensely in delivering her award winning performance.

The emerging talent was skeptical of the future of the entertainment industry as working through the pandemic left most artists in despair and melancholy. Instead, Dana rose to the occasion. She quickly overcame and made herself available for the role. ‘The time span we entertainers have is already pretty limited; we are always striving for opportunities, and I am truly grateful we were able to make something so beautiful out of the worst of what this century has witnessed,' she added in her statement during a press conference while making an official announcement on the release of the film. The actress, who also shared an executive producer role in the movie, expressed gratitude towards Porter + Craig Film and Media Distribution for acquiring the film for digital distribution.

Recalling her favorite scene from The Death of Us, Dana spoke of the horse riding as the most memorable moments. 'When you’re shooting something that is so taxing on your mind, body, and soul, you feel like your world could crumble at any given moment, but a scene like riding a horse is breath of freedom, one you want to do over and over again,' she added.

Dana is working on the upcoming horror film Dead Mall and is scheduled to release in 2024. An inspiring story for many upcoming stars of the new generation to learn from, she encourages all young girls to pursue what their hearts say. As a successful actress from no entertainment industry background, she strongly believes that talent has its own way of making it to the top.
