'I kind of had my dream job in a way, but I still wasn't happy, you know, like I still had this artistic side that I've had my whole life,' he added. The turn of events proved that the journey he had dared to choose for himself was a good call. Fortune favors the brave, and in the case of Jon Matthews, he ran a risk he was willing to take in exchange for anything he had. Recollecting the earliest instances of entering the filmmaking world, the director, writer, and producer shared that his first breakthrough came from his ideal American director, Spike Lee, who was also a professor at his university. After successfully becoming his teacher assistant, he shared, ' I got to work for Spike Lee, and he gave me a grant to make my first documentary, which is like what started it off for me.' Mr. Lee offered him the finances to create a documentary. After a momentous turn in his career, there was no going back for the now famous award-winning filmmaker.
